1. Consultation and Planning

When you come to a consultation at New Life Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Lee will examine you and determine if you are a good candidate for breast augmentation.  You will discuss important decisions about your surgery.  These include the implant size, place of scar, type of implant, and placement of the implant above or below the muscle.

2. Procedure

Breast augmentation only takes about 1 hour.  You will arrive at the office in the morning and be home in the early afternoon.  They are always done with IV conscious sedation and NOT general anesthesia.  Thus you will sleep through the entire procedure but be breathing on your own.  You do not need to be intubated.

3. Recovery

During the first few days, your breast are sore and there is mild to moderate discomfort.  This is very well tolerated with the pain medication that is prescribed. It will be important to wear an appropriate supportive bra, which we will discuss prior to the surgery. The breast will be initially swollen but that resolves over the first month.  Before you know it, you will have fuller, soft, natural-appearing breasts and look great in and out of clothes.

Dr. Lee sees all the patients the next day after surgery. He will remove the bandages and you can shower after these bandages have been removed. You should not lift anything over 5 pounds in the first 2 weeks of recovery. However most patients return to work within 1 week, especially if they have light duty at work. Remember everyone heals at different time intervals.  Important factors are nutrition and not smoking. We will be there with you to help you recover as quickly as possible.

4. Results

After breast augmentation, you will enjoy fuller breasts which will fit into your bra, clothes, and bathing suit better.  Breast augmentation will give you confidence in how you look both in and out of clothes.  Individual results will vary.  Dr. Lee spends time during the preoperative consultation to discuss the results to expect given your unique breast tissue and breast framework prior to the surgery.
