Breast Augmentation Revision
Conveniently located to serve the areas of San Antonio, Boerne and McAllen, TX
Since breast augmentation is such a common surgery many women need to eventually have a revision. Implants do not need to be exchanged at the 10-year mark unless you are having symptoms of breast firmness or discomfort.
A board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Lee, performs this common procedure to remove the old implants, remove the capsule around the nipple if needed, and place another implant if you desire. Consultation and Planning
When you come to a consultation at New Life Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Lee will examine you and determine if you are a candidate for breast revision surgery. He will listen and discuss your desires for the surgery. It’s important for you to bring your implant card from your prior surgery, as it shows the implant type and size. Dr. Lee will discuss expected outcomes based on your breast anatomy. The game plan for your surgery will be thoroughly discussed at your visit so you will leave the office having all your questions answered.
Procedure
Breast revision surgery is done at New Life Cosmetic Surgery Center. You will arrive at the office in the morning and be home in the early afternoon. They are always done with IV conscious sedation and NOT general anesthesia. Thus you will sleep through the entire procedure but be breathing on your own. You do not need to be intubated.
Recovery
During the first few days, your breast are sore and there is usually only mild to moderate discomfort. This is very well tolerated with the pain medication that is prescribed. It will be important to wear an appropriate supportive bra, which we will discuss prior to the surgery. The breast will be initially swollen but that resolves over the first month. Before you know it, you will have perky, soft, natural-appearing breasts and look great in and out of clothes.
Dr. Lee sees all the patients the next day after surgery. He will remove the bandages and you can shower after these bandages have been removed. You should not lift anything over 5 pounds in the first 2 weeks of recovery. However most patients return to work within 1 week, especially if they have light duty at work. Remember everyone heals at different time intervals. Important factors are nutrition and not smoking. We will be there with you to help you recover as quickly as possible.
Results
After a breast augmentation revision, you will enjoy your new breasts and have confidence in how you look both in and out of clothes. Individual results will vary. Dr. Lee spends time during the preoperative consultation to discuss the results to expect given your unique breast tissue and breast framework prior to the surgery.
