Before and After Photos

About a Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, is a procedure that enhances the overall size, firmness, volume, and symmetry of the breasts. This procedure offers a curvier and more youthful appearance, especially after weight changes and pregnancy leave the breasts looking deflated. Some women are also born with naturally small breasts and wish to enhance their size and volume to align more closely with their aesthetic preferences. (1)

Benefits

This procedure continues to be one of the most widely performed procedures in the world. (2) Many women choose to undergo a breast augmentation because of the many benefits it offers, such as:

  • Boosted confidence
  • Enhanced breast size
  • Improved body symmetry
  • Stable and long-lasting results
  • Enhanced figure

Candidates

If you are experiencing sagging breasts after pregnancy or weight loss, desire a larger chest, or want to achieve a more symmetrical look, you may be an ideal candidate for this procedure.

You must also be in good health, a non-smoker or willing to quit for an extended period of time, and maintain realistic expectations for your results.

Personal Consultation

During your personal consultation, we will have a conversation about your motivations, desired outcomes, and any concerns you may have.

I will evaluate your health and medical records, then carry out an assessment of the breasts, which includes measurements and a discussion of which implant size will best fit your anatomy.

After these evaluations, we will then take three pictures, and along with our breast measurements, we will use our Crisalix 3D simulation system to show you what your breasts will look like after the surgery.

Depending on the size and goals you would like to achieve, I will present you with your implant options. Physically touching and getting a feel for the potential implant is a great way to get an idea of the shape and size that would be best for you.

After this, I will recommend the best size and shape that fits your body type, also letting you know where I will place the incision for a seamless appearance.

When it comes to choosing implants, I believe that less is more. Too often, patients receive implants that are too large, and their surgeon fails to explain the complications that can arise with overly large implants. My goal is to get you the results you desire while ensuring the implants aren’t too large.

Submit our online form to schedule your consultation or call us directly at (956) 969-8369 for our McAllen office or at (830) 515-5193 to reach our Boerne office.

“My philosophy is ‘less is more.’ I focus on proportional enhancements that align with your frame, lifestyle, and long-term goals, avoiding over-augmentation that can lead to complications down the line.”

Preparation

To prepare for your breast augmentation and experience a smooth and easy procedure, I advise you to:

  • Refrain from smoking and nicotine use for four to six weeks before treatment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications at least two weeks prior to treatment
  • Arrange a ride home
  • Avoid alcohol for at least one week prior to treatment
  • Lay out comfortable and loose clothing for recovery
  • Prepare a designated resting place

Procedure

I give my patients IV conscious sedation for this procedure instead of general anesthesia. As I begin the procedure, I typically make an incision on the crease, underneath your breast. This is also known as the inframammary fold incision; I favor this method as it hides scars effectively and allows precise pocket creation. I make the incision as small as possible to minimize the scar. I will create a pocket for the implant.

I typically recommend gummy bear gel implants in a moderate plus or high profile, depending on your anatomy. I use a funnel to place the implant into the breast pocket, an evidence-based technique that prioritizes safety, natural results, and minimal complications. I usually place the implant using a dual plane approach, where the upper two-thirds of the implant goes beneath the muscle, and the lower third is positioned above the muscle but under breast tissue, to create a natural, rounded lower breast.

Once the implant is in the right place and both breasts appear symmetrical, I will close the incision with sutures. This surgery takes about an hour, and you can go home on the same day.

Recovery

Post-surgery, I will place a specialized compression bra and bandages to support your implants and swelling. Before sending you home, I will provide recommendations or prescriptions for medications and schedule a follow-up appointment the day after your procedure. I also provide recovery peptides to patients after surgery.

I advise focusing on resting throughout the first two weeks and strictly avoiding any lifting, fast and high-impact movements, and raising your arms. It is best to sleep directly on your back during this time. Walking slowly for a little bit each day can help promote healthy blood flow.

“In a field crowded with options, I pride myself on a patient-centric model that prioritizes safety, innovation, and ethics over volume.”

Results

A breast augmentation delivers stunning results. Results continue to improve in the following months, usually reaching their final form six months post-surgery. During this time, you will begin to notice your breasts settle into place. Your breasts will appear full, symmetrical, perkier, fuller, and firmer. You will likely feel more confident and empowered to expand your style. Breast augmentation offers high patient satisfaction rates, and its results are long-lasting. Breast implants, however, are not lifetime devices, and they will require replacement or removal at some point—usually after about 10-20 years. (3)

Corresponding Procedures

Breast Lift

A breast lift lifts the breasts to enhance their perkiness and shape. A breast lift is ideal for women who are experiencing breast ptosis after weight loss, aging, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation can enhance both the volume and position of your breasts, making them appear more youthful.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens the abdominal muscles. This procedure creates an enhanced figure with a firmer and flatter look. A tummy tuck pairs well with a breast augmentation by contributing to an hourglass figure.

Mommy Makeover

A mommy makeover combines a tummy tuck, breast augmentation or lift, and liposuction to revitalize and restore a woman’s pre-pregnancy body. Combining a mommy makeover with a breast augmentation can allow women to feel confident after the changes brought on by pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding.
