About MOXI

MOXI is a non-ablative laser, which means it does not remove or damage your skin’s superficial layers. Instead, it targets the underlying layers, heating the water in your skin. (2) This process stimulates the production of new collagen, leading to a gradual improvement in your skin’s health, elasticity, firmness, and overall appearance.

Benefits

MOXI offers several notable benefits, including:

  • Versatile Application: MOXI can address several skin concerns at once, such as visible signs of aging or uneven texture.
  • Non-Invasive Nature: The MOXI laser heats the underlying layers of skin to achieve its effects, which means you will not need to worry about this treatment damaging or removing the outermost layers of your skin.
  • Stimulated Neocollagenesis: This treatment stimulates the production of new collagen, leading to gradual improvements in the appearance, health, and elasticity of your skin.
  • Short Treatment Duration: The MOXI treatment typically takes less than one hour, allowing you to easily attend treatment sessions without disrupting your routine.
  • Minimal Recovery Time: You will be able to return to most of your daily activities immediately after your treatment session, which is shorter than several other laser treatments.
  • Personalized Solutions: Dr. Lee and his team personalize each treatment plan according to your personal goals and skin type.

Candidates

You may be a good candidate for a MOXI laser treatment if you are interested in rejuvenating your skin and addressing visible signs of aging, uneven skin texture or tone, sun spots, and more.

To qualify for your procedure, you should be in good general health and have realistic expectations regarding your results. There should be no active infections or open wounds in the targeted treatment area. Dr. Lee or another rejuvenation specialist will finalize your eligibility for MOXI during your personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

Before your MOXI session, you will meet with a nurse laser specialist to discuss the details of your treatment plan. During this meeting, they will explain what MOXI is and what treatment entails. They will also discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and ideal results. After a physical assessment of your skin, they will be able to determine whether a MOXI treatment is right for you.

Your specialist will also answer any questions you may have about MOXI or laser skin rejuvenation in general.

Preparing for a MOXI Laser Treatment

After scheduling your MOXI laser treatment, you may need to follow certain guidelines to prepare your skin. Your specialist will likely provide you with a set of comprehensive instructions, which may direct you to:

  • Modify Your Skin Routine: Refrain from using harsh products that may irritate the treatment area or interfere with the laser technology. These include products such as chemical exfoliants or retinols.
  • Avoid Tanning: Avoid unprotected, direct, and excessive sun exposure, and stop using tanning products altogether.
  • Stay Hydrated: Keep your skin hydrated by using a gentle moisturizer and drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Arrive Prepared: Arrive at your appointment with clean skin, without facial jewelry, makeup, or skin care products.

Treatment Process

When you arrive for your procedure, a member of our team will lead you to your private treatment room, where you will meet with your specialist.

Your specialist will confirm the details of your treatment plan before cleansing your skin and preparing it for the laser. They may also apply a topical numbing cream or anesthetic if you have more sensitive skin, but most patients find they do not need it, as the treatment is considered gentle and quite tolerable.

Once you are ready, the specialist will use the MOXI handpiece to administer the laser energy to the treatment area. As they pass the device over your skin, it will emit gentle pulses of laser energy, which causes what patients have described as a warm and prickly sensation. They will continue passing over the treatment area until it has been evenly addressed.

After this, your specialist will apply a calming moisturizer or serum to soothe your skin before you head home.

Recovery

After your treatment, you will be able to return to most of your daily activities immediately, as MOXI requires little to no downtime!

In any case, there are still certain guidelines that you may need to follow to ensure your skin does not become irritated after treatment. For example, you should refrain from wearing makeup in the days immediately following your procedure, and adjust your skincare routine to avoid excessively harsh or abrasive skin products.

You may notice some initial redness or minor flaking as your skin heals, but you can manage these effects by using moisturizer and gentle skin products.

Your specialist will provide you with a full set of aftercare instructions if necessary.

Results

While you will be able to notice improvements shortly after your treatment session, MOXI stimulates the generation of new collagen, so it will take some time to experience the full results. Your skin will appear brighter, clearer, and more even, and you may notice improvements in its firmness and elasticity. With continued treatments over time, you will likely be able to see more significant improvements, such as a reduction in visible signs of aging overall.

MOXI yields long-lasting results that you can enjoy for several months to a year. To best preserve the results of your MOXI treatment, we recommend that you wear adequate sun protection and maintain a good skincare routine.
